Siemens has been an active member of the Sustainability Leadership Forum - Chicago for the past 8 years. We find that the format, level of participation and type of organizations that are fellow members is outstanding. Because we rotate the meetings at member organization locations, we not only reduce our cost, but get a better sense of how each organization operates in their own setting. I've known Joseph for many years through his work with the Sustainability Leadership Forum, but only more recently have been able to join as a full member. Joseph has done a great job at building local communities of sustainability professionals. Unlike external appearances, we all have many challenges, and the Forum is a great venue for connecting, learning, and sometimes commiserating with my counterparts. Since joining as a full member, I've become even more impressed, as speaker and topic applicability to my work are very helpful in taking a step back to think about how to strategically approach my work. Joseph facilitates the city by city Sustainability Leadership Forum, which has proved to be enormously beneficial for each of the participants personally in our careers, as well as accelerating the evolution of corporate sustainability through the sharing of best practices. The peer to peer dialogue, without competitors, is open and wide ranging, and fosters both learning and support. Joseph has been a master of facilitating discussions with a simple structure and few rules, and big outputs. Working together with members, he has also been highly successful in identifying topics and speakers with significant impact.
The Sustainability Leadership Forum provides incredible value to corporate sustainability professionals, particularly those with small teams, because of the supportive nature of the Forum. The Forum is local to your city, which makes meetings extremely convenient and connects you to peers in your region. We meet in person every other month to tackle the most relevant challenges in our field. Our facilitator, Joseph Dixon, ensures structured and meaningful conversations with a mix of subject matter experts and private roundtable discussions. During roundtable discussions, the group acts as an extension of your own team by helping you brainstorm ideas to tackle current challenges in your organization. I have not only become friends with my fellow members; I have called on them numerous times for advice and support and consider them my most trusted professional network.
